Why IIEE exists
Pakistan needed engineers who could maintain, adapt and improve the electronics already running its factories. In the 1980s a Swiss study mission assessed that need, and a cooperation agreement followed.
The Ministry of Science and Technology built the campus through PCSIR. The Swiss Government equipped the laboratories and co-developed the curriculum — an arrangement that still shapes how IIEE teaches: theory in the morning, the same problem at the bench in the afternoon.
Training for real industrial work
The programme mission is to prepare industrial electronic engineers for emerging industrial and societal needs through collaboration of industry, research and academia, with professional ethics.
- Affiliated with NED University of Engineering & Technology
- Accredited by the Pakistan Engineering Council at OBE Level II
- Degrees awarded by NED University
- English-medium, four-year, eight-semester programmes

Milestones
- 1980s — Swiss study mission: experts identify Pakistan’s need for practice-oriented industrial electronics engineers and a cooperation agreement is signed.
- 1988 — Institute established: MoST builds the campus through PCSIR; the Swiss Government equips the laboratories and co-develops the curriculum.
- 1993 — NED UET affiliation granted on 9 March; degrees are awarded by NED University.
- Today — The B.E. Industrial Electronics programme is accredited by the Pakistan Engineering Council at OBE Level II.
- 2026 — A second B.E. programme in Computer Systems Engineering extends the institute into computing and intelligent systems.
Come and see the laboratories
The best way to understand IIEE is to stand at a bench and watch a final-year project run.
