Overview
All IIEE laboratories are equipped with modern electronic equipment and instruments and are accessible to students. They are where theory becomes a measurement, a waveform, a control loop or a working prototype.
Access comes with responsibility: safety induction, supervised work, careful records and respect for shared equipment.

Areas of work
Electronics & circuits
Devices, analogue and digital circuits, measurement and troubleshooting.
Industrial automation
PLC, instrumentation, control and the Siemens-equipped automation lab.
Communication & embedded
Signals, microcontrollers, embedded systems and communication links.
Computing & projects
Software, simulation, prototyping and final-year project work.
A laboratory culture
- Complete the safety induction before using any equipment.
- Work under supervision and follow the lab timetable.
- Record measurements and results while you work, not afterwards.
- Handle instruments and components with care; report damage immediately.
- Leave the bench clean and the equipment ready for the next group.
- Report spills, smoke, damaged cables or near-misses at once.
Need the full laboratory list?
The academic laboratories page describes the individual laboratories and their focus areas. Use it to find the right space for a course, project or demonstration.
Need access for a project?
Ask your supervisor or the laboratory staff about access, safety induction and available equipment.
Laboratory access is subject to supervision, safety induction and timetabling. Confirm current arrangements with the laboratory staff.
