Overview
On successful completion of the Industrial Electronics Engineering programme, graduates are expected to demonstrate twelve programme learning outcomes. They range from engineering knowledge and analysis to ethics, teamwork, communication and lifelong learning.
The outcomes are not separate subjects. They are capabilities that should be developed across the programme and evidenced through assessment.
The 12 PLOs
PLO 1 · Engineering knowledge
Apply mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals and specialisation to complex engineering problems.
PLO 2 · Problem analysis
Identify, formulate, research and analyse complex problems, reaching substantiated conclusions.
PLO 3 · Design/development
Design solutions, systems, components or processes that meet specified needs with due regard for safety, culture, society and environment.
PLO 4 · Investigation
Investigate problems methodically: literature, experiments, data analysis and synthesis.
PLO 5 · Modern tool usage
Create, select and apply appropriate techniques, resources and modern engineering/IT tools, understanding their limits.
PLO 6 · The engineer and society
Assess societal, health, safety, legal and cultural issues and the responsibilities of professional practice.
PLO 7 · Environment & sustainability
Understand the impact of engineering solutions in societal and environmental contexts and the need for sustainable development.
PLO 8 · Ethics
Apply ethical principles and commit to professional ethics, responsibilities and norms of engineering practice.
PLO 9 · Individual & teamwork
Work effectively as an individual or in a team on multifaceted and multidisciplinary settings.
PLO 10 · Communication
Communicate effectively, orally and in writing, with the engineering community and society at large.
PLO 11 · Project management
Demonstrate management skills and apply engineering principles to manage projects in a multidisciplinary environment.
PLO 12 · Lifelong learning
Recognise the need for, and prepare for, independent and lifelong learning in a changing technological context.
How PLOs are assessed
- Course Learning Outcomes (CLOs) break a PLO into course-level abilities.
- Examinations, quizzes and assignments provide direct evidence.
- Laboratories and projects show applied capability.
- Reports and presentations assess communication and documentation.
- Final-year projects integrate several PLOs in one piece of work.
- Surveys and feedback add indirect evidence from graduates and employers.
Where to see the evidence
The CLO–PLO mapping shows where each outcome is taught and assessed. The course scheme shows the courses in which those opportunities sit.
See how the outcomes are built
The programme objectives and mapping show how the twelve outcomes connect to the whole degree.
PLO wording is summarised from IIEE’s published OBE documentation. The approved programme record prevails.
