Overview
Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) activities at IIEE are planned alongside quality and OBE work. The focus is practical: safe laboratory habits, correct handling of equipment and chemicals, emergency readiness and a schedule that staff and students can see.
The Spring 2025 schedule is reproduced below. Treat it as a record of the planned programme; confirm current dates and any changes with the EHS or QEC office.
Spring 2025 schedule

What EHS covers
- Laboratory and workshop safety induction for new users.
- Electrical, machine and tool safety.
- Chemical handling, storage and waste disposal.
- Fire safety, evacuation and emergency drills.
- First aid and incident reporting.
- Housekeeping and safe access in shared spaces.
Who it is for
Students
Anyone working in a laboratory, workshop or project space.
Faculty & lab staff
Supervisors, technicians and staff who manage equipment or chemicals.
Visitors & contractors
People entering controlled areas for maintenance, visits or events.
Make safety a habit
Know the exit, the nearest extinguisher and the first-aid point before you start work. Report damaged equipment, spills or near-misses immediately — a near-miss is useful information, not a reason to stay quiet.
Not sure about a lab procedure?
Ask before you act. The EHS or laboratory staff can confirm the safe method and the right protective equipment.
The schedule is updated each semester. The current official notice and instructions from laboratory staff prevail over this archived schedule.
