Overview
IIEE’s thirteen laboratories and workshops cover the full arc of the programme: from applied physics and circuit fundamentals to a Siemens-equipped Industrial Automation Lab and final-year project work.
Each laboratory has a specific teaching role. The facilities page shows the spaces; this page explains what they are for.
Four areas of practical work
Basic sciences
Applied physics and the experimental habits that underpin engineering.
Electronics & electrical
Circuits, devices, digital logic, measurements and machines.
Control & automation
Instrumentation, process control and Siemens PLC automation.
Computing & projects
Software, embedded systems, simulation and final-year project space.

How laboratories are used
- Scheduled practicals that match the theory course.
- Open or supervised project work, subject to staff availability.
- Final-year project build, testing and demonstration.
- Safety induction before access to equipment and workshops.
- Laboratory reports that record method, data and conclusions.
- Equipment care and immediate reporting of faults or near-misses.
