Overview

IIEE practices Outcome-Based Education (OBE) in both teaching and assessment. The teaching and learning methodology is built on the IIEE vision, mission and Programme Educational Objectives, with a Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) process that checks attainment at programme and course level.

In practice, OBE answers three questions: what should a graduate be able to do, where is that learned, and how do we know it was achieved?

The OBE chain

Vision & mission

The direction: what IIEE exists to contribute.

PEOs

The career-level objectives graduates should achieve a few years after graduation.

PLOs

The twelve outcomes a graduate should demonstrate at completion.

CLOs

The course-level outcomes that build and assess the PLOs.

How the loop closes

  1. Define the vision, mission and Programme Educational Objectives.
  2. Express the expected graduate capabilities as Programme Learning Outcomes.
  3. Map courses and Course Learning Outcomes to those PLOs.
  4. Assess students through examinations, laboratories, projects and reports.
  5. Analyse attainment at course and programme level.
  6. Act on gaps through curriculum, teaching or assessment changes.
  7. Review again in the next cycle with QEC and industry input.

The QEC and academic pages explain how outcomes are assessed and reviewed.

OBE documentation is reviewed periodically. The approved programme records held by IIEE prevail over this summary.
