Overview
Programme Educational Objectives describe the professional lives graduates should be prepared for. They are broader than a single course and are reviewed with industry input through the Industrial Advisory Board.
The four PEOs below are the published objectives for the Industrial Electronics Engineering programme.
The four PEOs
PEO 1 · Solve engineering problems
Demonstrate essential knowledge and skills to investigate, analyse and solve industrial electronics engineering problems.
PEO 2 · Work and lead in teams
Work efficiently with a spirit of teamwork and leadership, with effective communication skills.
PEO 3 · Practise responsibly
Develop professional ethics and engineering practice for societal and environmental development.
PEO 4 · Keep learning
Engage in lifelong learning for continued professional growth.
How the programme works towards them
- Technical courses and laboratories build the knowledge and investigation skills in PEO 1.
- Team projects, presentations and group work develop PEO 2.
- Ethics, safety, environment and professional practice are integrated into courses and projects.
- Research, self-study and exposure to new technology build the habit of lifelong learning in PEO 4.
- The final-year project brings all four together in one sustained piece of work.
How the PEOs are reviewed
The Industrial Advisory Board reviews the PEOs and curriculum against current industry practice. Alumni and employer feedback, QEC reviews and programme assessment evidence feed the same continuous improvement cycle.
How do the PEOs connect to courses?
The mapping page shows how courses and course outcomes contribute to the programme outcomes.
PEOs are reviewed periodically with industry and academic input. The approved programme record prevails over this summary.
